Our Guest Minister for November 5 is Dr. Tom Martin; a retired Army officer with 21 years of active service and a Vietnam veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam and a tour in Bosnia. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Four. Among the awards he received were the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal for valor and Purple Heart. He has a PhD in Old Testament from Barrington University and has pastored churches in North and South Carolina. He retired from flying the helicopter for the Greenville Hospital system after 12 years in September of 2012, where he was also a bi-vocational pastor.
Since retiring from the pastorate, the has acted as interim pastor of five churches and been in pulpit supply and revival ministry. He was the pastor to the seniors at East Lumberton Baptist church from September 2021 to September 2023. He is now retired.
He is married to the former Kay Pate Johnson and they live in Bladen County, near Bladenboro.
